![]() Welcome to MethSoc, the Methodist Society at the University of Birmingham!![]() Tweet We are a friendly society of free-thinking individuals. Although we have our roots in the Methodist tradition, we are open to exploring all expressions of faith, and we welcome anyone from any faith tradition or none. We’re passionate about social justice issues, sustainability, learning about and growing in our faith and how we live that out in the world today, and A number of Methsoc members gather together to worship at Selly Oak Methodist Church which is just about a mile off campus, but lifts are always available - always feel free to contact either Gareth or any of the MethSoc members if you need a lift or just someone to go with. As well as these regular times of worship (because, let's be honest, Sunday is not always the best time for a student), MethSoc gather every Monday evening at St Francis Hall (the university chaplaincy) for a home-cooked meal at 6.30pm followed by some sort of program or activity. Our term card includes everything from hard hitting social justice issues to sheer sillyness and fun (we’re quite good at that!). At its core, MethSoc is a friendly place to explore our Christian faith and to learn how to live as Christ’s disciples in the world. What makes MethSoc so great is the great range of personalities and ideas that make for fantastic conversation and amazing opportunities to grow in grace and in love. Want more information? Either just drop by and say hello one Monday evening or contact: Gareth at garethjones11@googlemail.com or Tom at tom_rollo@hotmail.com. We look forward to meeting you! MethSoc is affiliated to the Student Christian Movement, which views Christianity as radical, inclusive and challenging. If you would like more information, please visit the SCM website |
