Welcome to MethSoc!We are a friendly society of free-thinking individuals. Though we’ve got our roots in the Methodist tradition, we are open to exploring all expressions of faith, and we welcome anyone from any faith tradition. And we definitely don’t have all the answers, so questions are more than welcome! We’re passionate about social justice issues, sustainability, learning about and growing in our faith and how we live that out in the world today, and above all, eating curry. Some Methodist students gather together to worship at Selly Oak Methodist Church which is just about a mile off campus, but lifts are always available. Other students choose to worship elsewhere, perhaps Riverside Church or St. John’s in Harborne. Always feel free to contact either Kara or any of the MethSoc members if you need a lift or just someone to go with. Other than regular times of worship (because, let’s be honest, Sunday is not always the best time for a student), MethSoc gather every Monday evening at Saint Francis Hall for a home cooked meal at 6.30pm followed by some sort of program or activity. Our term card includes everything from hard hitting social justice issues to sheer silly-ness and fun (we’re quite good at that!).We’ve also got some non-Monday evening events planned like a walk up into the Lickey Hills or events with the other faith societies. Really, at its core, MethSoc is a place to explore our Christian faith and to learn how to live as Christ’s disciples in the world. What makes MethSoc so great is the great range of personalities and ideas that make for fantastic conversation and amazing opportunities to grow in grace and in love. Want more information? Either just drop by and say hello one Monday evening or contact: Kara on 0121 414 8153, Ethan on 07716233070 or Matt on 07972194236. We look forward to meeting you! |
